Gods Behaving Badly

I bought Marie Phillips gods behaving badly for my wife and I both. But in another one of those Twilight Zone moments, I noticed on the inside cover Ms. Phillips profile speaks to me:

Marie Phillips was born in London in 1976. she studied anthropology at Cambridge University and worked as a researcher at the BBC. More recently she has worked as an independent bookseller white writing Gods Behaving Badly.

There that phrase goes again: independent bookseller.

Also, for my own reference is Courtyard Books (where I purchased the novel) credit policy.

"Bring in your paperbacks and receive a 25% credit toward the price of each of your books. You then purchase our gently used paperbacks at 50% off, plus tax and a $.25 service / restocking fee per book. If you have store credits you pay for your purchase using 1/2 credit and 1/2 cash or check."

Used books, I'm quickly learning it's all about credit.

Still Alive

Still got no net but that doesn't keep a man from running websites, does it?

You need to read Warren Ellis's Secret Twitter Society post about private microblogging/gated Internet communities.

The Calliope Nerve website is going well, with plenty of material to come. I just have to ask, would someone, someone please give me my Internet back?

Kalisa Broke the Internet

"...we're still going to be reading print, and people who love books will still want a book--the most perfect piece of technology ever devised.

Think about it: the brilliant mechanics of the turning page; the infinite possibilities of the simple rearrangement of twenty-six letters and a few other symbols; the art of design and typeface. It's the purest monument to the possibilities of the human race." --Ian C. Ellis

This is the book I am reading:

And we haven't had an Inter-Web at home since Kalisa broke it.

Next you'll be telling me that Al Gore didn't invent the thing.

Fricking Cold

This 25 below zero with wind chill is getting really old. Of course, it's practically balmy here in oHIo, compared to some of the other winter weather states.

No Internet at home again for a while, so I'm going to go get in my car and try not to slide off the road on my way home from work.

Ghosts Along The Mississippi

"I'm trying to kill what's happening to me. A ghost along the Mississippi." --Down

"When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes." --Erasmus

I know I've posted this video before but hey some things you gotta see twice. It's not often a song brings out my inner muse and my inner head banger.

Breadcrumb Scabs, a poetry mag produced via, Lulu. Clearly a publication avenue I need to learn. Especially, as I contemplate a format change for print issues of the magazine. The current issue is in final editing stage.

Need to go about archiving pieces from the zine. One good example of an archive post is already there, and bares little resembelance to it's appearance in print and has new content.

Also, set up an email mailing list for Calliope Nerve. Now to get people to use it.

Lots of high profit sales this week over at my online bookstore which will eventually be my primary career.

Ever hear of Wilson Mizner? Besides being a Broadway playwright and Hollywood screen writer, he co-owned the Los Angeles Brown Derby, was a prize fight manager (who rigged fights), Klondike gold seeker, and ran a gambling den.

You know what man? It's time I wrote my own story. And I don't mean a book.
